Our old faucet broke a few weeks ago, and we didn’t really want to rush out and buy another one. We were able to glue down the base so it wouldn’t leak and would shut off, but we knew it was a short term solution. It was time to hunt for a new kitchen faucet.

Delta was one of the top brands we looked at. Their website shows the kitchen line as having fourteen different main styles to choose from, and within that there are dozens more variations on the theme. That is a lot of choices.

The options include faucets with additional sprayer wands, some without, some have a high goose like swooping neck, others have a shorter faucet neck. There is even one that is at a complete 90 degree angle, it’s appropriately named the Grail, and it does look like something from history that you’d see on an old hand pump. The old fashioned look is coming back into style I guess.

There are single handle options and those with separate knobs for hot and cold (not my personal favorite). From an ease of use standpoint I think it’s much easier to have just one faucet to adjust instead of using both hands to adjust two knobs. When you have young children and are usually holding that wriggling child in one arm you only have one free hand to adjust water temperature.

Some of them come with soap and lotion dispensers, which I think is a waste of space and money. However some people do use them so if this is useful to know at least know it is an option.

English Language Learners Welcome

Whether your learners come from a reading-based culture or not, you should have them become familiar with written English. There are a number of authors whose works your English language learners would welcome, believe it or not. The first in some cases though, is to have the EFL teacher become familiar with English language authors and with how their works might be utilized in class.

Here are Seven English language Writers to Start You Off

• William Shakespeare

The second most-quoted works in the English language are those of this English-born playwright from the 16th century. Use a scene from one of the better-known plays like "Romeo and Juliet", "Hamlet" or the perennial favorite of many, "MacBeth". Either of the two scenes with the three witches can be easily dramatized for even greater impact.

• Theodore Seuss Geissel

More commonly known as "Dr. Seuss", his works for children are still growing in popularity. Several are animated films and a couple of others, like "Horton Hears a Who" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" are full length feature films.

• The Holy Bible

No matter what region of the world you might be from, your first language or religious beliefs, the Holy Bible is recognized as a historic, prophetic work and book of Supreme wisdom. It is the world’s most-quoted book by far. Almost every knows at least a few passages from the Bible and perhaps parents could input their favorites to your EFL learners.

• Edgar Allen Poe

If your learners like horror and suspense stories, then this is the author for them. Considered to be the "inventor" of the short story writing format, Poe’s works, wholly or in part, have also been made into plays, dramas and movies many times over. Which one of his chilling tales is your favorite?

• Ernest Hemingway

If you haven’t heard of Hemingway then you’ve obviously been living on the moon.
"The Old Man and the Sea" is but one perennial favorite. When American English speakers talk about writing, he is their prime shining example.

Said to be London’s first environmentally sustainable skyscraper.

"Windows in the light wells open automatically to augment the air conditioning system with natural ventilation, an occurrence anticipated to save energy for up to 40% of the year.

"The floor plans are shaped like flowers, with a circular perimeter indented by 6 triangular light courts. The indentations remain a constant size at each level, while the space between them diminishes.

"The floor plan is rotated for each successive floor, creating a series of spiraling 5-story atria that stretch the full height of the building."

- Emporis, Inc.

It’s time for cranky New York Times Company shareholders to start crowing again. Just three years after the company sold its landmark headquarters to Tishman Speyer, the real estate giant has unloaded it for $350 million in profit.

Tishman announced that it would sell the Times Square-area office building, which it bought for $175 million from the New York Times in 2004, for a cool $525 million. Yes, that is three times what it paid the Times three years ago.

The building’s buyer is Africa Israel USA, a holding company controlled by Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev. He must be eager to gain prominence in the New York real-estate scene given such a high profile acquisition, in addition to his recent stake in the Anthorp, an exclusive West Side apartment building.

Should Times shareholders chalk the lost profit opportunity up to a scorching hot real estate market, a badly brokered deal in 2004, or an over-eager buyer in 2007?

If the Anthorp deal was any indication, Leviev does not seem interested in slowing down for long enough to bargain. The Israeli tycoon has already garnered the dubious record of highest price ever paid for a U.S. residential building by paying $426 million for a 50 percent stake in that property.

It also could be that Tishman has an exceptionally green thumb rather than the Times having a knack for sapping value. This sale will mark the second time in 2007 that Tishman Speyer has tripled its investment in office space; in January the firm accepted a $1.8 billion bid for 666 Fifth Avenue, which it bought for $520 million in 2000.

Not to be outdone by the Big Apple in bloated real estate deals, London has just plowed through previous records with its own 1.1 billion pound sale, almost doubling the single-building record set in February when Swiss Re sold its pickle-shaped London high rise, known locally as the Gherkin.

HSBC snatched the crown for highest price commanded by a British building with the sale of its Canary Wharf headquarters. The deal will be a sale-and-leaseback agreement providing HSBC with a minimum of 20 years of occupancy, which should reassure Londoners that Europe’s largest bank is in the U.K. to stay.

As was the case with the Times building, the sale of HSBC’s headquarters also represents foreign investment flowing into the city. The buyer in this case is Spanish property giant Metrovacesa, which boasts around $10 billion in Spanish real estate assets and an appetite for international expansion.

A home is never without a good and dependable closet to put away different things and objects found in a common household. From clothes to tools, a closet can turn a cluttered house into a clean and organize dwelling.

Many would think that closet designs are limited, few choices that will clash horrible with the rest of the household if not planned perfectly. But in truth, there are plenty of choices of closet door designs that you can choose from, and only your creativity can limit on what you can do about it.

If you want to go ahead and give your closet doors a good overhaul, then you need to know that there are different types available today, and these are hinged, bi-fold, accordion, and sliding closet doors.

1. Hinged Closet Doors. The most common design of closet doors is the hinged or swing doors. These are attached to the closet using hinges, and can be swung open to reveal the content of your closet in full. The only problem with this type is the space it consumes in the room once opened.

2. Bi-Fold. Same as also with the hinged variety, the bi-fold closet doors answers the problem of their hinged counterpart. They can be folded when opened so that it won’t take as much space necessary in your room.

3. Accordion. The Accordion or multi-fold closet door is quite common in condominiums and hotels. They take up little space and fold in lengths to reveal the contents inside. You don’t necessary have to open everything when using this door type - just enough to reveal the content that you wish to get or store.
